The Italian Third Way - Article - How the 16th century historiographical and antiquarian work of Azariah de Rossi offers a philosophical and practical rebuttal of Talmud-Torah as the central source of Jewish education while still operating within a normative rabbinic framework, and why this should resonate more with contemporary - and American - Judaism. With digressions on the conflicts with the Maharal of Prague and the decline of the Italian Maimonideans.
